We are having major communication problems here at Whitelees. Our broadband provider has to be switched. This will take about 10 to 12 days. In the meantime, we are back to dear old dial-up. As you may know, this will make things VERY slow indeed.
On top of that, I broke a finger on Saturday. It was that dog's fault. Polly was going in for her annual check up and booster shots first thing on Saturday morning. I had her on her lead across the road from the vet clinic. I'm calming her down before we go in there, when one of the clinic employees shows up. She proceeds to make a big fuss over Polly (naturally) and gets her all excited and wound up. Even though Polly was on her lead, I grabbed her collar as well to control her better. Polly then did one of those alligator death rolls. One of my fingers was trapped under the collar and was twisted badly. I thought it had just been pinched.
Half an hour later, after Polly's appointment, I was at the clinic's front desk paying the bill. I noticed that the ring finger on my right hand (the one that had been trapped) was throbbing a bit and perhaps a bit puffy.
I went to the shops and got some milk, bread and other essentials before heading back out to our edge-of-nowhere house. When I got home, I notice that bruising was starting on the finger that had been pinched. As hours went past, the colours got darker and spread out further.
By the evening, I had convinced myself that I have either broken my finger or sprained it pretty badly. I haven't gone to the doctor. There really isn't any point. The finger doesn't need realignment and has been strapped to its neighbour the middle finger. Even if I did go to the doctor, had an x-ray and examination, the treatment would be the same; Tape it to the next finger. Gritty, stoical me. Are you impressed by my hardiness?
I'd show you a picture, but I can't upload photos from my camera to this laptop.

Ouch! Finger damage and broadband deprivation at the same time. It gives me the shakes just thinking about it!
OUCHHH you finger sounds so sore but as you say You can do the same thing as the doctor at no extra cost. Hope you get broadband back on sooner than later.
So Polly gave you the finger.... Bad Dog!!
i'm sending a kiss and some blowing for your pore finger, but do you also need pain killers? there's lots left from me operation.....say the word, and i'll wrap some in kleenex, tuck them in a baggie, and mail them.
there is only dial-up here at home. it's a good way to catch up on your sleep waiting for things to upload.
Only dial-up. I can't really feed my addiction this way
Joe - It'll be back soon.
Jeanette - It's not really terribly sore but typing is wierd.
ex-shammickite - She is just excitable and it was merely misfortune that my finger was caught.
Xtreme - Thanks Ma! It doesn't hurt that much. Please don't send painkillers through the post. I can get plenty of good ones if I need 'em and there might be a few laws about sending prescription medicine through international post.
Ouch for the finger, and ouch for slow connection!
JOKING, for pete's sake....rest assured i will not break any international laws mailing old pills in baggies cushioned by kleenex....
this thing should have a special typeface for irony....
hope ur finger's feeling better today.

If you were in the US you could probably sue the vet. ;-)
Hope the pain has let up.
Claude - Thanks for the sympathy.
Xtreme - I know you were joking!
Sally - The vet assistant is a bit of an airhead. It is nice to have somebody fuss over your dog, but sometimes it is just not helpful.
Jay - Such an American thing to say! The pain has let up but the colours are still changing.
Wow! You are one tough cookie! I'd still be whining, and nobody would be listening.
I'm impressed Peggy! I hope your finger is doing okay and not causing you much pain....Doctor. At this point, you're probably bothered more by the slow dial-up than anything. Take care....
Those alligator death rolls are a nightmare.
Nearly been caught out a few times before myself.
Once they've twisted so far you just have to go with the flow.
Hope your finger is better soon.

Dial up! That's like going back to the stone age. And your finger banged up on top of it...you poor baby! Feel better soon...
I'm impressed by the fact that you are not a cry baby Peggy, we are few and far between. Maybe if there were less people visiting the docs with broken toe nails or whatever, really ill people might get seen too quicker.
The reason you can carry on business as usual is because you're a woman. The weaker sex ! pah
How's the finger? Any chance you can commandeer the computer long enough to send us an update??
