Red in the Face

Thank you for all the wonderful kitten name suggestions. This afternoon at 4:30 when I was taking the kittens in for their first check up we had decided on Jack and Daisy as names.
It was almost Jack and Meg (a nod to The White Stripes). Also close was Cecil and Emmy Lou (Gram Parsons & Emmy Lou Harris). In the end, the musical theme was ditched in favour of names that George just plain liked and we agreed to. Lots of cute names didn't make the short list. Fred & Wilma, Ike & Tina, Richard & Karen and even LaToya & Michael.
We got to the vet clinic and was completely embarrassed to discover that we didn't have one male and one female kitten. We had two males. Sheesh! Talk about feeling stupid. I did really look, so did Henry and the woman who gave them to us. This means that the name Daisy wasn't going to work. Thinking fast, Daisy was changed to Julio.

So in that picture Jack is singing "me and Julio down by the schoolyard"?

Glad I didn't make that mistake when I met TP!

ha! I guess I'm not the only one that can't gender kitties. When I was young and we had hoards of farm kitties we would give them all names that would work either way or were easily convertible, like Cheerio, Outlaw, Max (or Maxine), etc.

Jack and Julio are great names!

Now I'm going to be be singing that Paul Simon song all day.

I don't own cats but rather like dogs and have had dogs for most of my 72 years. Still I can't help but melt when I see kittens. My daughter has about 11 outside cats and has had them all "fixed" at her own expense of $250.00 US Dollars each. Unfortunately, they still kill wildlife and the only solution is when they die off the wildlife might be able to make a comeback.

I like your photography and also your writing. I think both have a great deal of merit.

I used to know two gentlemen in Scotland and you probably know at least one of them. Tom Gourdie was one who used to be well known for his role in the development and introduction of italic handwriting in schools. ANd also for his books about it.

The other who lived at Bonny Bank, Fife, Scotland was a kind person. A midget with a big heart and one who depended on himself for most of his worldly goods. George Tompson was his name.

I am afraid that they are probably both gone now.

Jay - That is exactly what he is singing! How'd you guess?

dogbait - You'd think a mother of three would know the difference!

j-funk - Thanks for telling me that. It is quite comforting to know I'm not the only one.

Kell - At least it isn't an annoying song that has stuck in your head. It could be worse.

abraham lincoln - Thanks for stopping by. I had a quick peek at your blog. Beautiful photography!

I'm more of a dog person too, but my dog is no longer a puppy and has been "out cuted" by the kittens.

I think this mistake happens often Peggy. My daughter had a kitten she called Emma...who suddenly one day became Russell. He fooled a few people for a while. They are so adorable, aren't they?
