Some Kids Have All the Luck

You may know that our youngest boy, George is away this week on a school sponsored ski trip. The thing is, this school ski trip is to the Italian Alps! Here are a few shots of the highlights so far.

The children who are going on this trip, and so many kids signed up that there are two coach loads of them, will have a record of their trip via a website. The website has been broken down into different pages, starting with the outward journey. These photos have been pinched from the school site so that I can show you.

Parents and family waving the skiers off! Bye Mum! Bye Dad!George on the coach somewhere near the Dover/Calais crossing.
On the Autoroute towards Chamonix and the Mont Blanc Tunnel. Peage (toll)Mont Blanc! Mont Blanc tunnel - French side When you get out the other side, you are miraculously in Italy! The snow doesn't look much different.
The hotel that the kids are staying in for the week.George and his pals getting the ski equipment on for the first time. The first ski lesson . . . .

Now George is full of confidence!

What fun that you can follow his activities via the web site! How communication has changed over the last few years. He looks like he's having the time of his life. I bet you won't be able to stop him talking about it when he gets home at the end of the week.

That's cool that they set up a website to post all those pictures. You can keep tabs on him that way. haha

Looks like so much fun. A school sponsored ski trip? My school never did anything like that!

yes, indeed....times have changed. during the winter, the sisters locked the bus students in the building while they went off to the orphanage down the street for a hot lunch. we sat on the stair landing near the radiator and traded sandwiches. some days we walked downtown to the kfgo (radio station) studio and joined the audience for "the co-op shoppers" who played scandinavian tunes on their fiddles.

a ski trip? skis??

so happy for george to be enjoying such a thing with his schoolmates.

Looks like George is having fun AND snow!
What a good idea to publish photos on the school website. It makes parents happy. When my daughter went on school trips, there usually was one handwritten note a day on the schooldoor. And that was it! Times, they are a-changing! ;)

ex- I know he's having a ball. Knowing he's having a good time takes the edge off of missing him.

Jay - My school didn't do this either.

Xtreme - We're happy we could send him.

Betty - It does look like he's having fun.

Tink - Good thing you live in FL if you don't like snow. I love the stuff!

Sally - Snort! I had forgotten about the coldness of wet jeans while skiing. Blue streaks in the snow. One would wear your best new play clothes to go to Sundown in Dubuque.

Kell - I'm glad you're liking the pictures.

Claude - The school is very good about keeping us updated. It's nice.

There were no photos of George in any of the Day 2 pictures. We're waiting to see if he shows up in any today.

Lucky George! I'm sure he's having a wonderful time. And you won't be too worried because of the web site. Ain't techonology great?
